This handsome red-covered perfect-bound book of 305 pages contains an introduction, fourteen chapters, and three appendices: notes, a bibliography, and an index. As a non-fiction book, all these are important and guide the reader to deeper thoughts on any particular subject in the book, additional resources, and a method to quickly re-access memorable passages.

But let’s start at the beginning. The Psychalive website defines Empaths in this manner: “Empaths are highly sensitive individuals, who have a keen ability to sense what people around them are thinking and feeling. Psychologists may use the term empath to describe a person that experiences a great deal of empathy, often to the point of taking on the pain of others at their own expense.” Empaths are people sometimes called sensitives or intuitives. You could say that these three categories overlap extensively and that many card readers thus are likely empaths. Empaths may have found themselves labeled as “too sensitive” or “too emotional,” precisely because they are picking up emotions from others and are reactant to strong emotions. Empaths are using the right sides of their brains when they are being empathic. This is something not always rewarded in our society, so many empaths are closet empaths—they conceal their empathic qualities and try to be more impassive and “normal.”

Redfeather’s own description of empaths is more nuanced: an empath has the ability to merge with the energy of other beings. An empath possesses a highly sensitive nervous system. An empath has great sensitivity and ability to perceive or access information in the energy field of other life-forms. Empaths place a premium on having peace and harmony in their own environments and energy fields. Empaths have open hearts and desire to serve others.

Redfeather’s spiritual training for empaths emphasizes that they must embody their psychic powers. They must cultivate a healthy body, and healthy lower chakras, as well as deal with their shadow and inner child, in order to be of service to the world. Redfeather lists twenty-five physical symptoms commonly experienced by empaths, these include headaches, third eye, and crown chakra sensations, achiness, dizziness, sleep disruptions, and more. She also lists seventeen emotional or energetic symptoms of empaths, including seeing meaningful patterns around you, craving time alone, increased psychic abilities, and so forth. Many of these symptoms are viewed by traditional medicine and psychotherapy as something “wrong” with the person. Redfeather says she has met many empaths misdiagnosed as having depression, bipolar disorder, agoraphobia, borderline personality disorder, or anxiety.

Empaths are incarnated now to facilitate a major change of consciousness on this planet, the change from the Love of Power (Third Chakra) to the Power of Love (Fourth Chakra). As empaths, it behooves us to do the spiritual work necessary in order to be mature and healthy enough to be of aid to others. We need to establish good boundaries. Our job is to serve humanity at this time of tumult.

Most card readers are likely empaths, yet some may not be aware of their empathic nature. This book will help you find yourself and be of more positivity in the world.
